Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer
Driven by the passion to improve quality of people’s lives, WS Audiology continues to grow as market leader in the hearing aid industry. With our commitment to increase penetration in an underserved hearing care market, we want to accelerate our business transformation in order to reach more people, more effectively.
About the job
Our R&D Mechanical Integration team is expanding to accommodate the growing need for advanced hearing aid technology. As part of the global R&D powerhouse of WS Audiology, we are developing the next-generation hearing aids for Widex and other brands in the WSA family. You will join a functional team of proficient mechanical engineers and participate in project work with cross-functional project groups in close collaboration with colleagues from the hardware, wireless and electro-acoustical teams. Most of our components are high-precision injection molded parts, but we also develop metal and elastomer parts as well as hybrid electro-mechanical subassemblies. Most projects are taken from early concept phase to final release and ramp-up by the same product team, so be prepared to participate in all phases of product development.
What you will do
As a mechanical design engineer your main responsibilities will be:
- Preliminary design studies and implementation of product architecture.
- Prototyping activities, proof-of-concept creation and design evaluation.
- Detailed part/system design and maturation using PTC CREO and our PLM system.
- Design-for-X in close collaboration with other departments (simulation and material specialists, internal and external tool makers, NPI, Operations, external suppliers, etc.)
- Specification and documentation according to our Quality Management System, Design Control requirements for Medical Device development and internal guidelines.
- Verification and validation of design output in close collaboration with our Reliability Test Team and System V&V teams.
- Collaboration with Operations, Supply Chain and suppliers regarding ramp-up and product launch activities.
We work with the latest technology in CAD, simulation and prototyping, including PTC CREO, Moldflow, Abaqus FEA, COMSOL Multiphysics FEA, high-resolution 3D printers, etc. and place a high priority on professional skills with focus on competency development, individual specialization and continuous training
What you bring
Experience
- Have a degree in mechanical engineering, product design & innovation or similar. Possessing further education or experience in polymer specialization, tool making, or tool design may be beneficial.
- Candidates should have at least five years of experience in developing polymer parts, as well as experience with metal and elastomer components. Experience with micro injection molding and processing of polymers would be a significant advantage.
- Be a super-user of MCAD software (preferably PTC CREO).
- Enjoy working with integrated product development from the initial concept phase to final handover to mass production. Experience with Medical Device development is advantageous.
Personal competencies
- Engage in your field of specialization, work in sync with your team, and handle your workload with an encouraging approach.
- Appreciate the intricate process of mechatronic product innovation and possess a fervent interest in the detailed crafting of mechanical components.
- Make it a priority to supply high-standard solutions in accordance with the determined project framework and time limits.
- Be able to achieve effective results based on a strong analytical skillset as well as practical implementation.
