Business Development Manager WSA, North East UK
To deliver on our corporate purpose of making wonderful sound a part of everyone’s life, WS Audiology is looking for a new Business Development Manager to provide comprehensive account management and business development services to independent businesses. The role focuses on maximising sales opportunities for Widex and Signia hearing aids across all customer segments.
Your team
In this role you will report to the Head of Sales. Alongside the other Business Development Manager, you will work closely with key stakeholders involved in the sales process, eg. WSA’ HQ, Customer Service, Line Managers.
What you will do
As our new Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for the North-East UK territory. The primary purpose of this role is to generate sales income and provide profitable management of customer accounts within the WSA UK Independent customer base within a predefined geographical area.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to utilise your audiology expertise, as you will also be responsible for conducting product training sessions and offering guidance on the product portfolio.
- Provide an overall account management and business development service to accounts and achieve agreed personal targets in line with company targets and Key Performance Indicators and maximise sales opportunities with all customers and pro-actively develop new business opportunities with existing accounts.
- Pro-actively target prospective new accounts and build closer relationships between the Company, its existing customers and prospective customers.
- Develop & maintain marketing plans for independent customers, working closely with the Marketing Department to create ‘best in class’ added value.
- Achieve agreed WSA sales targets and to develop and work by detailed account management plans for all customers by planning, visiting and meeting buying customers on a regular basis as well as identify and plan to visit all non-buying customers.
- Understand and act on market changes as they occur and keep up to date with product knowledge including audiological detail and ensure that independent customers are aware of all products available to them.
- Maintain and increase sales knowledge using appropriate sales tools and providing feedback and ideas for continuous improvement.
- Identify sales opportunities and ensure that such opportunities are maximised and ensure that all visits are planned and reported on using the CRM system, proactively using and managing the database for accuracy and segmentation.
- Ensure that all customers training requirements are met effectively to increase awareness of products and services through targeted segmentation to execute within agreed timelines.
- Manage, review and monitor independent customer pricing, including ASP, credit returns and product mix across WSA brands.
- Represent the company at trade exhibitions and events and project the Company as a market leader and professional organisation.
- Report weekly to the Independent Head of Sales regarding sales activities and submit monthly reports, on a formal basis, on sales activities, both on an individual customer basis and on a geographical area basis, following set processes
- Identify and report customer and competitor information to improve the Company’s market intelligence.
- Liaise with Finance Department to ensure accounts operate within their prescribed trading terms and conditions.
- Identify potential sales opportunities with independent accounts in the areas of hearing instruments and non-hi, including batteries, accessories, and audiological equipment and accessories.
What you bring
We are looking for a proactive sales manager who can develop and execute marketing plans for independent customers. You will work closely with the Marketing Department to deliver exceptional added value. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in audiology, combined with excellent stakeholder management skills.
Experience
- Proven ability to comprehend complex technical product information and effectively communicate these details to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring clarity and engagement.
- A higher-level educational qualification, preferably in a relevant discipline, providing a solid foundation for understanding the intricacies of the audiology and healthcare sectors.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an audiology setting.

- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including customers and internal teams.
- Well-developed negotiation skills, with a strategic and consultative approach to securing business agreements.
- Strong business acumen with a results-driven mindset, demonstrating the ability to analyse market trends and align business strategies with organisational objectives.
- Excellent self-management capabilities, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and implement sales strategies.
Travel requirements
- Travel will be required in this role, covering the sales territory assigned to this role, this will involve overnight stays.
- Attendance required at customer and industry events, as well as internal company events often held in the UK.
- Expectation of 4 days minimum per week in the field.
