The team
The department of Signal Processing in Lynge consist of +20 enthusiastic and highly skilled specialists working on a multitude of different topics all around Audio Signal Processing.
The culture in the department is focused on teamwork, creativity, agile teams, as well as being able to be creative and continuously come up with new ideas. The team is dynamic with diverse backgrounds, and we enjoy working in an informal, yet professional, atmosphere. We are enthusiastic about signal processing aspects including the processing of the microphone signals in the hearing aids to generate an output signal which allows people to communicate in noisy situations and we work every day to ensure excellent sound for our users to ensure them wonderful sound.
As a department, we are working in an agile way across a wide range of areas such as developing new algorithms, neural networks, detection algorithms, and much more. Our hearing aids are renowned for their quality with emphasis on delivering clear and natural sound as well as pushing the envelope by being first-movers and bringing new innovations to the market.
The role
You will be part of one of our cross-functional development workgroups following Agile work principles, meaning that you can expect a highly collaborative and ever-changing work life. Your primary objective will be to design, implement, and test & verify signal processing solutions for our future generations of advanced hearing aids.
Your daily tasks could look like the following:
- Developing, inventing, verifying, and prototyping of innovative audio digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms, such as beamforming, noise reduction, acoustic source localization.
- Implementing and integrating the algorithms into the development of hearing aid features in a joined collaboration with other R&D departments and marketing requirements.
- Porting and optimizing DSP algorithms towards embedded firmware and ASIC implementations with high focus on performance and power efficiency.
- Driving best practices for Software Development to ensure high quality, re-usability and modularity of code.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching in areas of expertise for team members.
- Technology forecasting, monitoring, scouting and integration of new technologies into WS Audiology solutions.
- Breaking down complex tasks and planning your daily work with your agile team.
- Understanding hearing-aid user needs and keeping update with the daily situations of them.
Your profile
You are driven by curiosity in the search for the best solutions for people with hearing impairment. You are a team-oriented person who works comfortably and efficiently in teams, towards a common goal and enjoy to coach and provide technical guidance to other team members where you have the expertise. You aim to face complex problems with a creative mindset as well as enjoy working in an informal, yet professional, atmosphere.
The ideal candidate holds the following qualifications:
- +5 years of professional experience within audio digital signal processing preferable from relevant industry, where you have been part of product development working on e.g. concepting, porting, optimization, implementation, and/or integration of audio algorithms.
- Have experience with fixed point C/C++ with a focus on implementing signal processing algorithms on DSPs.
- Knowledge on mapping signal processing algorithms into efficient fixed-point ASIC implementations
- Proven ability to apply best practices of Software Development where you always work towards maximum quality, re-useability, and modularity of code.
- Skilled programming capabilities in simulation or modelling language, preferably in MATLAB.
- Solid theoretical background within various advanced audio processing techniques, e.g., spatial filtering, noise reduction, beamforming etc.
- M.Sc. degree or Ph.D. degree in a field related to signal processing, and/or acoustics and psychoacoustics
- Experience with working in agile teams, where daily stand-up, backlog refinement, review, retrospective, working according to the Product Owners priorities and coached by an Agile Scrum Master, all have been part of your daily routine.
- Able to influence an organization and reach agreements with stakeholders through strong communication skills.
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
