Lead Engineer: Data Compliance

We are looking to fill a key role in our Data Architecture, Compliance and Governance team within R&D with someone who has knowledge of data privacy legislation and can bring expertise in creating system architectures and implementations for compliant data collection and data handling. Your knowledge of best practices and hands-on experience will complement the team’s skills and help us put the right structures in place to ensure data is handled responsibly, compliantly, and with integrity. You'll l play a big part in enabling innovative uses of data while ensuring we meet the highest standards of compliance and accountability.
What you will do
- Act as a compliance advisor for R&D, embedding privacy-by-design principles into products and processes, primarily interfacing to cloud and app developers of medical products in a complex system of SW products and HW devices
- Partner with product managers, architects, and engineers to identify and mitigate privacy risks early in the design phase, participating in or facilitating cross-functional teams defining future architectures
- Develop and implement standardized processes to ensure compliance with privacy laws and medical regulations
- Lead internal data audits, present findings to leadership, and track remediation of non-compliance issues
- Create and deliver training sessions, spreading your knowledge and keeping R&D teams up to date on evolving privacy regulations and policies
- Review technical and process documentation to ensure accurate reflection of compliance considerations
- Collaborate with development teams to define and validate technical measures such as encryption, access controls, and data lifecycle management
- Work closely with legal, cyber-security and cross-functional development teams to build best practices for data handling, storage, and sharing.
What you bring
Experience
- Degree within engineering, computer science, mathematics, mathematical modeling or similar
- Min. 5 years of experience working with data quality, data privacy and compliance preferably within MedTech or a similarly regulated industry
- Training in, knowledge of and experience with international data protection law and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, medical regulations concerning data and/or key infosec standards. Certification is an advantage but not a requirement
