Senior Database Specialist

To deliver on our corporate purpose of making a wonderful sound part of everyone’s life, WS Audiology is looking for a System Engineer to manage SQL Server & Oracle Databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
As a new Senior DBA Specialist, you’ll join our international team responsible for enterprise solutions, and you’ll be reporting directly to Senior Manager, Infrastructure.
As you'll be responsible for the US timezone, you must work the afternoon shift starting from 3 pm CET.
What you will do
In this role, you’ll work closely with different teams on Support, Change requests, and administration to ensure the smooth running of systems. We want you to perform operational support for the ERP application portfolio and infrastructure.
On top of that, you’ll be responsible for:
- Incident and problem management
Respond promptly to incidents, investigate & provide a permanent solution.
Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
- Availability Management and Disaster Recovery
Proactively ensure the highest levels of availability.
Support Business continuity measures, i.e., backup/restore procedures & disaster recovery plan, to ensure continuous operation of the business.
- Service improvement
Automation of routine tasks and Operations using Ansible or other tools.
Maintain and improve the existing disaster recovery concepts.
Maintain awareness of new technologies that might enhance device operation, capacity, and performance.
- Change Management
Manage the activities associated with patch management, audit, and compliance of DB.
Ensure that all infrastructure Change requests are maintained, and followed according to policies and recommendations.
Ensure that all routine maintenance tasks are completed on all operational infrastructures.
What you bring
The Specialist is an experienced IT professional with a high proficiency in database administration, Operating systems, scripting, and automation with good innovation and inter-disciplinary collaboration skills. Solid practical experience in MSSQL/ORACLE is required.
Experience
- Proficient in supporting SQL Server & Oracle Databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
- Install, Configure, Backup, Recover, and Maintain Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL & Postgres
- Setup and Administer SQL Server Clusters, Replication Oracle RAC, and Dataguard.
- Proficient in Database Performance Tuning, Security, Monitoring, and Capacity planning.
- Experience in High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server & Oracle
- Hands experience in supporting SQL Databases deployed on the cloud (Microsoft Azure preferred)
- Conduct root cause analysis & implement proactive measures. Monitor the effectiveness of implemented measures
